This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the light of my life. They come to my classroom with a number of social issues and, together, we turn a group of inner city kids into motivated and excited learners. The school is considered to be in a high poverty location, but all of us understand that we must forge ahead because a good education is imperative for their future success.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
From day one, my students are aware of my perspective on education. Together we make goals that help each one of them strive to use their education as a weapon to guide in their success. They understand this quote from Nelson Mandela and explain how it applies to their own lives and learning. At the end of the year, I always reflect on how well they are doing with their "powerful weapon."
My Project
I need a dry erase board to display the learning targets/goals for each lesson. I have very little wall space to post these targets/goals in my classroom. I want to make sure my students can see and understand what is expected of them to learn during each lesson.
Having a white board accessible to ALL the students will provide me the opportunity to make sure each and every student knows what the expected learning is.
As a teacher I know starting the lesson, revisiting during the lesson, and ending with our targets/goals gives students motivation to focus and learn every day!
