This is our Earth and it seems like there is so much about it that we don't know or understand. We would like to learn about the surface and below. With my students living in a rural low-income community, there are very few resources for them to use to understand more about our Earth.
I teach in a rural low income school in south Mississippi.
My students range in age from 7 years old to 12 years old. My class is a gifted classroom, and my students are always wanting to learn more and more on any subject we are studying about. They love to have hands-on activities to further their knowledge on different topics.
My Project
Having the actual examples of rocks and fossils, reference materials and a model volcano would give my students more hands-on experiences and further their knowledge of the awesome planet we live on. We would love having the resources we have requested so that we could see exactly how our planet produces such interesting objects, such as precious gemstones and minerals.
The students would be able to recreate the way a volcano erupts, and learn what causes this to happen. They would also be able to learn how rocks and minerals are formed and get to see real examples of these.
By providing funding for this project, you will be providing my students with materials that we would never be able to have due to economic hardship.
These materials will help my students to become more knowledgeable about geology and this glorious planet in which we live.
