This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Beginning band students frequently struggle playing the correct pitch. It's not as simple as using the right fingers; air support and tone also can change pitch. Using a tuner gives student a visual reference and instant feedback of their accuracy. I want my students to produce the best tone quality possible, having a visual reference on each music stand will help students be independent in their pitch correction, and help me more effectively teach large band classes.
Middle School students are highly visual, and individual tuners provide accurate individual feedback to each student.
I have been using the same classroom set of tuners for over six years and some have stopped working. With this project, I will be able to replace broken tuners and have a full class set again, allowing every individual student access to their own tuner during their daily band class.
