My Project
My third grade students will finish off the school year studying attributions of plants and animals. Recently I showed them a video that taught them about carnivorous plants. I kept thinking about the excitement and interest my students displayed when watching the video and would love to be able to bring the plants from the video into the classroom.
My goal for my students is to bring a project into the classroom that will encourage their love of science, foster teamwork and collaboration when taking care of the plants, and teach the importance of showing kindness, empathy, and care to the people, animals, and plants we share this plant with.
Finally, I am always looking for new experiences to expose my low-income, inner-city students to so that they have the opportunity to find interests they didn’t know they had. I also want to create a fun, hands-on classroom that will entice them to dream big and work to make those dreams come true.
