What Made the Music Stop?

My students need a MacBook laptop computer.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Vicelich's classroom raised $1,779

This project is fully funded

Can you imagine, in this day and age, a classroom without a computer? My sixth, seventh and eighth graders know exactly what that feels like. Just take a look at the photo of our computer desk with a working printer, a working synthesizer and all the necessary cables. Unfortunately, the computer is broken beyond repair. Our music classroom is full of eager learners who sing, learn to play the piano and perform in concerts every year. However, our old and outdated classroom computer has broken down. This computer was where I used my recording experience to create custom musical arrangements for my vocal classes. This computer served as our chorus accompanist by playing those custom arrangements for the vocal classes to rehearse with. This allowed me to circulate around the room and give individual instruction to each student. Now, that’s all gone.

Every time we have vocal class, I’m stuck behind an old, out of tune piano playing accompaniments that don’t inspire my students. The arrangements that I have made for the classes in the past include drums, piano, and bass guitar. It makes them feel like they are singing with a full band! Every time we have a piano class I lose another chance to put an advanced student on the computer to use software that can help them reach their potential.

A new computer is the only solution! Fortunately, I always made back up files of everything we used in the classroom so with a new computer, I would just upload the software and the files and we would be back in business. We can then go back to rehearsing in a more realistic and up to date environment. The students will be more inspired and their performances will show it. The piano students will push themselves to learn more so they can be the one who gets to use the computer that day. I would be able to continue using my experience with music software and recording to help students succeed. Overall, having a computer in the music classroom directly affects student learning in a positive way. You can help us step back into the twenty first century with your donation! My vocal and piano students will be thrilled when they see a new computer in the classroom.

My students need a laptop computer. You will make it possible for the hundreds of students I teach every week to become inspired, discover their love for music and become better musicians. This computer would serve our students well into the future.
