Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in Los Angeles surrounded by poverty. They have limited resources available to them in their neighborhood and school. Many students have experienced trauma in their lives and this makes it difficult to attend school. When they are at school they are eager to learn, feel safe, and try to leave their troubles behind.
Students feel safe at school.
They come to learn, play, and have fun with their peers.
All students at our school receive free lunch and now they are given a hot dinner before they go home.
My Project
Students learn in different ways. It's a challenge to learn without the proper materials. The tactile letters, play-do mats will help the kinesthetic learners. The flip cvc books with pictures will help the visual learners. Activities will be use during small group instruction. All learners will have the opportunity to reinforce learning by using visuals, tactile letters, and flip books.
Struggling readers will be able to pick up the flip books and read it on their own and feel successful.
Touch and read cvc and blends will help kinesthetic and visual learners. Students will work in small group of 3 to 5 students or independently on activities. Students will learn how to put sounds together to make words while having fun!
