Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth-grade students are very loving, caring, and curious. They love being engaged in the classroom and truly appreciate all things donated to the classroom. In addition, these curious fourth graders love learning! My students come from a very low socioeconomic background and do not have the access to technology. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. We have the highest rate of ELL (English language learners) in the state and a high number of special education students.
My Project
The students love learning about new things and nutrition is something they do not know much about. When we started to talk about nutrition, my students asked if we could have more books about nutrition and the human body in our classroom. I agreed, because it is very important for the students to become educated in healthy eating. I want the students to learn to love eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. The hope is that students will choose healthy options over junk food. I also think it is important for students to learn about the human body and how amazing it is. The students will learn fun facts about the human body through the hot dots.
