My students are a very diverse group of learners from a low income area. As a result of living in a low income area, many students are disadvantaged when it comes to growth opportunities. Our school provides many opportunities for students to engage in their interests, both academically and socially. Within the science classroom my students thrive when presented with hands on opportunities to learn and grow. They love any special demonstrations or experiments that accompany a lesson and provide excitement.
My Project
Mastering the concepts within our energy unit is a challenging task for middle school students. Although these standards are challenging to understand due to their lack of physical tangibility, these resources will aid my students in engaging with the content through visualization, experimentation, and discussion. By creating content that is true to life students will be able to understand the why behind the standards that they are learning, and how they are directly impacted by the topics with our energy unit. Success within this unit will prepare students for future learning throughout the school year as well as in years to come.
