Help me give my students access to nonfiction selections that are current and include real-world information to help them become more globally aware.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Silver's classroom raised $691

My Students
My students come from various backgrounds. I teach in a school with a majority of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many are from single-parent homes and low-income families. The parents are extremely involved and want to help, but are limited in what they can do. The students are extremely motivated and love to learn. They are excited to take on new challenges and support each other as they work toward fulfilling their goals. They will do great things!
My Project
These magazines will help my students learn more about the world around them and help them build their nonfiction reading skills. They will interact with each other while using the articles as starting points to investigate the world they live in. It will help them become more globally aware and help them understand how they can make an impact on the world around them. The articles will also help them sharpen their reading and writing skills as they answer questions about what they read. Students are more interested in nonfiction texts when they are relevant to their lives and they can connect to the content. These magazines will help my students do that.
