My Students
My students are special because they are the future. I think what some people fail to realize is that the students in school now are the doctors, lawyers, politicians, or teachers of tomorrow. The more we invest in them, the brighter futures we all share together. I believe that each of my students brings a unique perspective on the world into everything they do. They deserve the best opportunities to showcase their talents and beliefs! I want my classroom to feel like a safe place for them to express themselves. A place they can get creative and raw. Make friends, share challenges and one of a kind experiences. This is their childhood and their place of education! They are absolutely entitled to have the best of the best in my classroom and I am willing to try and make that possible in any way that I can.
These past two years have taken a toll on everyone but especially kids in school.
My 5th graders have not been in a normal school environment since 2nd grade. By adding different options for seating, I can help follow guidelines while also giving a sense of normalcy for my students.
My Project
With your help I will be able to cross off one of the biggest things I have been trying to provide since day 1 of my teaching career. Alternative seating is a major key towards investing in what students need currently with the fast paced environment they have been growing up in. Technology surrounds them and it is at their fingertips constantly so being able to stay up with them and provide them the ability to move while they work, is something that I believe is a step in the right direction for their success. During our Physical Science until we get to complete several experiments. In these experiments students are often up and around the room surveying different stations and taking notes. This is teaching them to be able to make observations and read graphs/charts and tables. With movable seating and lap desks it will be much easier for my students to complete lab reports and for me to set up experiment stations. As a science team one of our standard goals is for the students to be able to correctly write up a lab report.
