My Students

The end of the school year means a good amount of preparation for our final assessments to evaluate how much each student has grown. With dwindling school supplies, it is hard to get students motivated to work hard when the weather gets so nice outside!

My students are inquisitive, bright, hard-working second graders who have grown so much this year.

They are living in Washington, D.C. and attend a rigorous charter school right in our nation's capital. They work hard each and every day and come to school ready and excited to learn. It is hard for our families to provide extra school supplies throughout the year on top of what they bring in at the beginning of the year.

My Project

At this point in the year, full pencils with any part of the eraser is nearly impossible to find. We want our students to continue their hard work and growth through our end of the year assessments and activities. It is hard for students to continue to be motivated when their materials are subpar. The two pencil sharpeners would be kept safe and would be available for two grades to use in order to quickly get materials ready. The pencils would also be shared amongst the two grades so every child has the supplies they need.

In order to finish out the school year, we are asking for pencil sharpeners that work efficiently, and quite frankly at all, along with enough pencils to get us through June.

We are looking forward to showing off our growth and hard work with the right supplies!
