This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I enjoy seeing the excitement in their eyes when we get ready for school every day. My students come from diverse backgrounds which makes them unique. Many of my students come from low-income families; however, they are the best kids on the planet.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, those with a STEM degree earn on average 26 percent more than their non-STEM counterparts. As an educator, I feel it is my responsibility to provide my female students of color with every possible exciting opportunity.
Gardening is a great way to not only grow your own food but also can be a wonderful way to connect learning from the classroom to real life situations.Students will be able to watch the process of their foods being grown from seed to their plate.
I want my students to develop healthy eating skills. Students come to school without eating a nutritious breakfast, often they feel a bag of chips is a good breakfast. Thus the urgency towards teaching my students about good nutrition. I want to provide them with an opportunity to have their own garden at home. Just being in a garden has mental health benefits.
