FREEZING TEMPS, 30 MPH WINDS and NO INTERNET? Unmotivated Students! HELLO OUT THERE!! I am sending this S.O.S thrown into our Arctic winds and carried away hoping someone will find it. Why? It is our darkest season up here above the Arctic Circle with unusual strong winds that never seem to calm down which makes our Internet services very weak if not stopping all together.
Although I try to sing and dance my way through math and reading lessons to capture the attention of my students, the wind remains pounding at our windows and it seems even students feel the strange pull towards hibernating to get through the dark and cold days and nights.
How can I motivate my students without technology and without resorting to paper and pencil when it comes to motivating my students in math?
The remedy is good ol' fashion hands-on logical games and puzzles to jump start those brains again. These games will brighten the student’s day with something new and exciting to figure out by themselves or challenge a partner. The games are intended to stimulate and strengthen their logic sense finding solutions to problems that are scaffolded from beginner levels to mastery.
Will you answer our S.O.S and help bring some warmth and light into our classroom by helping us purchase new and mind-stimulating logic games and puzzles? I can guarantee the kids will light up when they receive a package just for them. We will take turns guessing what is inside the mystery box that came from far away from someone who was kind enough to answer our plea.
