What Do Words Look Like

My students need 10 different kinds of art supplies, such as finger paint, water color paints, paint paper, and modeling sand.

This project is fully funded

I teach language arts in a pre-k though eighth grade public elementary school. I have a class of five fourth grade students who have special needs.

My students have good phonics skills, but they don't comprehend and remember what they read. Because of cutbacks in school funding, I have no budget for supplies.

Drawing, painting, and sculpting what they read will help them focus on word meaning, help them visualize what they read, and help them comprehend and remember what they read. They enjoy art and tactile activities. They will relate an enjoyable activity to reading.

You will give my students opportunities to have fun and be creative while becoming better readers.
