My students are energetic 5 year olds who are learning to be part of a community. They are curious about the world around them and love to engage in activities that help them to explore and develop their abilities. Every day is an adventure in kindergarten as they work together.
I love the growth that I see in my students on a daily basis!
It is amazing to watch them learn how to read, write and do math. However my favorite thing is to support them as they learn to be readers. They are so excited when they realize what they can do! I love to read to and with them, sharing many different kinds of books.
Our school is in a high poverty area, with all students receiving free lunch. Families work hard and want the best for their children. They also live to see the progress that their children make.
My Project
Kindergarten children want to learn, and they make progress quickly. Having the esgi tool is essential to keep track of what they are learning. All assessments used during the year, both formal and informal can be housed in esgi. It shows children with graphs how they are moving toward mastering skills. They get so excited when their circle fills all the way in! This is also very useful when planning lessons as this information shows where we can move on and what we need to practice.
Parents want to know how their children are doing and how to help them at home.
This tool prints out letters for parents that tells them exactly what they do and do not have mastered. It will even print out individual flashcards based on the child's particular progress.
