Listening. It is the most important skill successful learners have. I teach at a wonderful little school in the mountains of east Tennessee. My classroom is full of great second graders that are working on listening skills.
To build our listening skills we have a listening station. Our current listening station is a tape player with four headphones. Our tape player is well loved and has been used for many years. Due to this it does not always work and at times it eats our tapes. Our headphones are not in much better shape. They are dated and you can not control the volume on each individual headphone. This causes difficulties when trying to adjust the volume for a group of four.
We need a new listening station for our classroom. With a CD player we would not have to worry about our tapes being eaten. The children would also be able to use this station independently. Volume control headphones will put an end to the arguments about the volume of the tape player.
Thank you for helping my students become better listeners. With your help my students will be better prepared for school and life events. Once again thank you for helping my students.
