My Project

Teaching dental health in pre-K is vital because it establishes foundational oral hygiene habits, preventing future dental problems and promoting overall well-being, including better chewing, speaking, and confidence.

Preventing Dental Problems:

Early intervention with dental health education can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease, which are common childhood health issues.

Establishing Good Habits:

Teaching children about brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits from a young age helps them develop lifelong healthy oral hygiene practices.

Promoting Overall Health:

Good oral health is linked to overall health and well-being. Healthy teeth and gums can improve a child's ability to chew, speak, and eat, which can impact their growth, development, and social interactions.

Building Confidence:

A healthy smile can boost a child's self-esteem and confidence.

Reducing Future Costs:

Establishing good oral hygiene habits early can minimize the need for costly dental treatments later in life.

Early Detection:

Regular dental checkups, as recommended by the American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatrics, can help identify and address potential dental issues early on.

Educating Parents:

Teaching parents about the importance of oral health for their children can empower them to support their children's dental health and instill good habits at home.

The books will give the students the opportunity to make connections through literacy. The Play-Doh items will encourage strengthening their fine motor skills. The pretend items will be used in our Dramatic Play area.
