My Students
Bring the world to our classroom. My students need more materials that expand their horizons beyond Los Angeles - both geographically and culturally.
My students come from families with well-meaning parents.
They are, however, busy with, in many cases, limited resources and time. Many of them are second-language learners and many of them are part of an "at-risk" population that is going to need everything they can get to succeed.
My Project
The materials I'm requesting are colorful and fun for children in first grade. They inspire curiosity and learning while providing the students engaging ways of occupying themselves while working with the teacher or independently. Every classroom needs a globe for children to explore, and puzzles that demonstrate geography are challenging yet fun.
In a world that is getting increasingly smaller, an awareness of differences between peoples and cultures is going to be paramount to success.
Children are never to young to have their horizons expanded beyond their neighborhoods. Please help me bring them the world.
