Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are special because they make me want to be a better teacher. They come to school everyday smiling and excited to learn something new. My students truly love coming to school and give 100%. They love books and are appreciative over the smallest things like a new pencil or eraser.
I teach at a Title 1 school school in Atlanta where our school's population is 98% Hispanic.
Our entire school is on free or reduced lunch. My little Rockstars deserve the best and I want to make sure I can give them a memorable year. Most of our students come from homes where the parents speak no English and many students come to our school speaking no or very little English. Despite the road blocks of language barriers, lack of, or minimal resources we strive to make sure our students become successful students and future leaders.
My wish is to encourage, excite, engage, and empower my students to be the best at whatever their heart desires!
My Project
My Kindergarten students are still learning 100% virtually. As an educator, I have worked hard to make lemonade out of the lemons we were dealt throughout this 2020 Global Pandemic.
Literacy is so vital with little ones.
I am requesting a library of books so that I can provide my students with rich literature to keep them engaged and excited to be future readers. Having these resources on hand would allow me to enrich our literacy time by being able to read to them instead of them watching a story read digitally or on YouTube.
I absolutely love reading to my students and miss not having a library to go to choose books for my students. I teach ESL students so language is very important. Having these books at my fingertips would be a great tool to spark more excitement into the wonderful world of reading for my kiddos!
