What a Wonderful World... Exploring/Connecting/Discovering!
Help me give my students photo storage boxes, magnifying glasses, and other materials for the opportunity to investigate their world and make connections to their classroom content across the curriculum.
Our students have struggled to adapt to the many changes in their environment from staying inside their homes to re-entering classrooms for what could be the first time in their educational experience. This past school year was spent introducing the classroom environment...learning how to sit at a desk, how to walk in the school, and how to collaborate with others. Now, we are ready...
It's time to get our hands off the keyboards and into the dirt!
The Discovery Backpack will be filled with tools to use in scientific investigations. Magnifying glasses, tweezers, and bug observation boxes are resources that our students will be exposed to as budding scientists. I plan to add a composition book, crayons, and colored pencils to encourage drawing and writing about observations; incorporating language arts mechanics and nonfiction skills. The process will allow our students to connect to other curriculum topics in math...can you measure your bug or tree trunk?
Discovery backpacks will offer our grade level a true STEAM experience.
