As is true for all elementary schools, some of our students come to school hungry or without a snack for mid-day. Children struggle with focus and comfort when they are hungry. Often that "tummy ache" they go to the office for, is simply a stomach asking for food. Our school office tries to keep a supply of snacks for these occasions. Typically within minutes, the student can return to class and finish the day successfully.
A child must be warm and dry in order to feel safe and secure at school.
When time gets away from them and they aren't paying attention to the cues their bodies give them, accidents may happen. This happens most often in the lower grades, We have a small supply of uniform pants and shorts to help in these situations, but we need a supply of clean, dry underwear and socks so they can be comfortable for the rest of the day.
This project will help build of supply of snacks, and some necessary dry items for the child's comfort and security.
