We've Got To Get Marching

My students need two trumpets to begin the instrument library for a new school band.

My Students

Our school's K-4 students have happily danced, sang, and played their way around the musical world. Now it's time their talents to the streets with a marching band! But first, we need some instruments.

Our school music program began over two years ago with little more than a big empty room.

Thanks to a supportive staff dedicated to providing a well-rounded education and donors who believe in the power of music education, the music room has filled with guitars, keyboards, drums, xylophones, and other music making devices. Our students grow up exposed to the lively musical culture of our city. They have so much excitement and natural curiosity about music. Whether reading music with the keyboard, or strumming out a blues song with the guitar, our young musicians learn quickly and have much to offer.

My Project

Next year our school will grow to include 5th grade. The music program will also grow to offer a band program for 4th and 5th grade students. Our school serves a low-income population, so purchasing a trumpet is difficult for most of our students' families. I am beginning to build a collection of instruments for our students to use at school in band class. The two trumpets I selected for this project are good quality student trumpets. They will stand up to many years of wear and tear, play easily, and sound great.

Playing an instrument can have a hugely positive impact on a person's life.

It can build self-esteem, encourage creativity, and teach discipline and patience. Music can be the thing that makes an otherwise discouraged child excited about school. Help us continue building a vibrant music program to inspire the next generation of musicians.
