My Students

I am a first-year teacher with 21 ambitious, diverse, and passionate gifted & talented students. Students went through a difficult and stressful 20/21 school year with many of my students being online all last year. As a result, I have noticed some gaps in social/emotional knowledge and skills. This school year has been rocky as well but students have shown flexibility, understanding, and patience during an ever changing time.

I am hoping to bridge gaps in knowledge, support their emotional well being, and create a safe learning environment.

My Project

My students will benefit greatly from these resources for years to come. Read aloud and novel study books are an excellent way to teach different social and emotional skills and have students dive deeper into the meaning of different SEL topics. Integrating mindfulness minutes has been a goal of mine for a long time, the books and mindfulness cards will help guide my students to looking internally and learning different coping tools. Fidget tools and different seating options for students who need to move while working will increase focus and engagement in class.

Using these resources, I hope to inspire my students to understand the importance of social, emotional, and mental well-being in their daily lives.
