This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher of a K-6th moderate special education unit, my students have diverse academic, executive functioning, and social-emotional needs. I work to meet my students' needs by providing them with individualized academic support, daily life-skills learning opportunities, sensory and motor skills activities, and development of executive functioning skills. By working on all of these aspects, I hope that their amazing young minds and personalities will continue to grow so they become well-rounded, productive adults!

On the first day I started working with my students, I felt like I was invited to a secret club of imaginative, active, and loving kids.

My students are truly yearning to learn in an environment where they feel like we believe in them, support their learning needs, and respect them. I am a first year teacher and I believe that my students teach me as much, if not more, than I teach them! Their vibrant personalities and active minds keep me on my toes and I am always eager to continue learning how to best support them!

My Project

This project was built to bring more sensory items and fine motor skill activities to my classroom. These items will be helpful for my students in times of distress by using fidgets, the weighted lap pad, and weight stuffed animals. They will also meet the sensory needs of some of my students with autism. These items will also help develop fine motor skills by using the beading items, Theraputty, and other manipulatives to build dexterity, strength, and coordination.

Receiving these materials will help my students in a BIG way!

As a moderate unit, I have a lot of students that need access to sensory play, stimulation, and fine motor skill development every single day. It would be amazing give my students extra tools to use throughout the day to further their education in the way of sensory-play and fine motor skill development!
