This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, creative thinkers, and love to do hands on activities when they are learning. They value peer interaction and are full of excitement and ready to learn. My students love to create and learn as much as possible. As a first year teacher I want to provide my students with an environment where their learning is enriched and they will want to be eager to learn more. Our school is located in a wonderful rural community with a lot of diversity. The diversity within our school comes from our Hispanic students and Native Americans from the nearby reservations.

One of my favorite things about teaching is creating a learning environment where my students are eager and ready to come back.

This year I want to focus on the importance of creating a safe and fun learning environment! Can't wait for our adventures this year!

My Project

My students will be using these magnets to enhance their math and science skills. As a first year teacher I would like to increase the amount of hands-on activities to go along with the curriculum, so that my students not only understand what they are learning but can retain the knowledge they are gaining by associating their lesson with the hands on activity they did. Having these Magna Tiles will not only help my students remember the content better but will also make their learning more enjoyable.

Using the Magna Tiles will help my students critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, imaginative play and creativity.

Not only can it help with those skills but it can help my struggling students with their attention and focus. One idea to use these tiles is to take the students on a nature walk and look at their surroundings, we will then use the Magna Tiles to recreate what they saw in the environment.

My students will benefit from these tiles for both math and science, because they will be able to develop spacial and tactile skills as they count, sort and stack.
