My students need all the supplies (picks, 1/4 inch cables, capos and tuners) necessary to put on a show featuring their newly found guitar skills!

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We started off the school year with nothing, and a dream to build up an exciting music program. Through DonorsChoose, we are building it up - step by step. THEN, through LittleKidsRock.org, we got our dream: 30 guitars! Now, we need everything else!
In just over a month, these students are playing the guitar!
They are like little rock star sponges. Many of them are absorbing the material quicker than I can teach it. And, unfortunately, due to the already impoverished nature of NY public schools, and more budget cuts, we are unable to get the "rest of the stuff" kids need to play guitars.
My Project
Can you imagine 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students playing their hearts out in front of their teachers, parents, and peers? It will indeed be magical. BUT! Guitars need to be tuned...they need to be loud enough to be heard...capos will help them play in keys that their peers, who can only sing in limited keys, can also perform to. They will be getting real-life performing experience at our school's concerts, and at monthly lunch performances.
I'm sure I don't need to tell you how important music is in the lives of children.
But I will: Music is the saving grace for kids. It shows them teamwork, goal-setting, and helps with dexterity, mental acuity, brain development, and so much more. Plus, in this day of testing, testing, testing, music is a chance for kids to have FUN!
