We're Going to See Elephants, Monkeys and Bears: Oh My!
My students need an opportunity to engage in active learning about animals outside the four walls of the classroom.

My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title I school in North Carolina.
My students are loveable, hardworking, and energetic.
They enjoy learning during whole group and small group instruction.
The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch, some even participate in the weekend food bag program.
Most of my students live in public housing and face many challenges in their neighborhoods. That is why I would like to give them so many positive experiences in and outside the classroom.
My Project
There is nothing more rewarding and inspiring than to give your students the exposure and opportunity see an actual real live polar bear and brown bears. No video, web site, or book can do that as effectively as going to a zoo.
To be given the opportunity to teach and ask your students questions such as; how are polar bears and brown bears different?
How are polar bears and brown bears alike? Where do polar bears live and why do you think they live there? Where do brown bears live and why do you think they live there?
Real animals are a connection to the real world. It is the ultimate interdisciplinariansism, learning about animals can be the foundation of study for all academic areas and will inspire my students to want to learn more.
