It is doing an amazing job of ensuring that the children are learning in a challenging yet supportive environment. All students in our school have the opportunity to participate in sports, music, and a chess program. It is the school mission to ensure that all our students get the education they rightfully deserve, to prepare them for the future regardless of ethnicity, economic status, race, or religion.
My Project
This year our school has been working very hard to develop a new math curriculum for our students. A big part of this new curriculum is to help the students understand and process mathematics in the correct way. Using rekenreks in the classroom will help us do that with our students.
Rekenreks were designed to support the natural mathematical development of children.
Students can use the rekenreks to develop computation skills or solve contextual problems. Unlike drill and practice worksheets and flashcards, the rekenrek supports even the youngest learners with the visual models they need to discover number relationships and develop automaticity.
