My project needs 3 adult and 100 child safety goggles.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Eule's classroom raised $374

I am a third grade teacher at P.S. 204, a Pre-K through grade 5 school in Region 7 in Brooklyn, New York. As an elementary school teacher I teach all major subjects to my class although, I admit, I do enjoy teaching science - especially when we get to do hands on science. Our administration supports us in all that we do and we have an active parent association that works tirelessly to raise funds to supplement budget cuts and to provide our students with wonderful experiences.
We have a brand new science curriculum this year which includes most of the materials we need to conduct the experiments, investigations, and inquiries that are aligned with the curriculum. For the first time we have almost all that we need to conduct science experiments with our students right in the classroom.
However, the one material required for almost every single experiment is safety goggles, and that was not included in our material kits. I think that safety goggles are important; they play a vital role in protecting the children's eyes from injury. Even something as benign as soap can cause eye irritation.
In this proposal I am asking for 100 pairs of child sized safety goggles along with three pairs of adult goggles. 100 pairs is enough for three classes to make use of the goggles at the same time (we typically have classes of 27 - 30 students in the upper grades).
These goggles would be kept in a central location and be available for all of the third, fourth, and fifth grade classes. Teachers would sign them out when needed and then return them when done.
In addition to protecting the eyes of the students, the use of these goggles would help reaffirm the importance of following safety procedures in the science lab. And, since the goggles are in a variety of colors, they'll be fun to use too!
