My Students

"Be the labor great or small, Do it well or not at all" Anon . Anxious about S.T.E.M. lessons every day, Hi five, hug or hi as my students walk by. My students need to believe that there is a SCIENTIST in all of them and that S.T.E.M. jobs are AWESOME! My challenge is I do not have enough resources.

My 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are PHENOMENAL!

My students are funny, loving, hilarious and exciting to be around. They are 21st Century life-long learners who accept any task that they are given from planting trees to pH predictions. They are critical thinkers who keep me teaching and learning EVERY DAY. The energy that they release is as strong as a volcanic eruption! They are the JEWELS of the next generation. My students are hardworking and love to be challenged as well as challenge each other. THEY LOVE SCIENCE/ S.T.E.M. It's no secret around our school. They love each other. They love learning about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Many of my students give up their recess time to volunteer to work in our science lab. (PRICELESS) Our motto in our science lab is that we are "1 BIG HAPPY KINDA FAMILY!" My school is a small K- 8th band with 246 students. The teachers are phenomenal with great leadership and great parents and this makes a great team.

My Project

My students will use the S.T.E.M. career books to learn about the different careers and the schooling that is needed to obtain that career. My students will discuss in groups about the different S.T.E.M. careers. My students will have opportunities to perform the S.T.E.M. challenges and experiments in the S.T.E.M books that I am asking for. They will get a chance to choose experiments according to the S.T.E.M. career that they are most interested in after being exposed to all the S.T.E.M. careers in our lessons. All students will present a "What I learned about S.T.E.M. careers" at our S.T.E.M Career Day Fest that they will organize. All of my students will create a technology -media presentation about their S.T.E.M. career that they choose and why they chose the career including the education requirements that are needed with top 5 Colleges of their choice that offers their S.T.E.M. job as a program of study.

This project will be life-changing for my students.

This will allow students to observe through hands-on experiments to experience the different types of S.T.E.M. careers that exist. This will provide a wealth of S.T.E.M. career books my students and I will read/ discuss as well as do the S.T.E.M. experiments that will help students see the real-world connections to S.T.E.M. careers. Students will be exposed to S.T.E.M. careers to help them decide what they need to do in school to get there.
