My Students
Help my students behave!! With Class Dojo, my students can see all of their positive and negative behaviors all in one glance. It will help them monitor themselves to stay on task and learn.
I teach at a high poverty inner city school in Georgia.
We tend to have a few behavioral issues with our kids, which often leads them to be off task. They have a lot on their plates and self control can be a challenge. They need a little extra incentive to be successful.
My Project
Class Dojo is an Internet based behavior monitoring tool to help students see their positive and negative behaviors. It is displayed on our Promethean boards where the children can see the display of positive versus negative points. Each student has their own avatar with their name on it. They receive positive points for making appropriate or good choices and they get points taken away for poor choices. The students can hear a bell sound if they get a point and an "uh oh" sound if they get one taken away. This helps them see their choices, hear their choices, and know what choices are the right ones. At the end of the week if a student has a certain number of points they will get to attend a points party to celebrate! Having 1 iPod touch can help me have the convenience of adding points in the palm of my hand without having to walk over to my computer each time I want to update my points.
I think that many of my students are not aware of the inappropriate behaviors that are present.
Having the convenience of the iPod will help my students become more aware of their negative behaviors and how they can change them.
