My Students

Do you remember what it was like to struggle during silent reading time in kindergarten because you didn't know what the words said on the page? Let's work together to take the stress out of reading for our kindergarten students by providing them with equipment they can use to listen to stories!

My students are full of excitement about kindergarten and being in school!

They are sweet and ready to learn new things every day. Our school is fairly new. It opened three years ago and is lacking many instructional materials and technology resources. Our school has a moderate poverty level, about 40% of our students receive a free or reduced lunch. My goal is to fill our classroom with the most technology possible to help our young students become 21st century learners and global competitors.

My Project

In our class we have tons of books on CD. However, we are lacking the resources needed to listen to the stories! We are asking for 5 CD players to allow my students to listen to the stories that we have. Students will increase their fluency abilities by listening to stories that are read by others. We are also asking for 10 sets of headphones. We will use 5 for the current request, and the other 5 for the CD players that we currently have that do not have headphones. The last items we requested were hanging book bags with stands. We are requesting these to keep our Daily 5 student choice books separate and organized so the students can spend less time searching for books and spend more time diving into reading.

Listening materials are important to all of my students in my class.

CD players and headphones will allow student to utilize the books on CD that we already have, but are not being used!
