My Students
My pre-k and Kindergarten students are inquisitive individuals that work, play and create wonderfully together, within a multicultural diverse class.
My students have learned how to share, cooperate, and respect each other not only at school, but the parents confirm that it's happening at home as well.
Some of their favorite activities are center time and outdoor play.
Although, they especially enjoy music and movement with instruments. This is where they express themselves without inhibition, knowing it's a safe place. Our school environment and community provides that.
My Project
We are back to in person learning at school and need literacy and math center activities. The last eighteen months of remote learning have been really rough for our students. Now that they are back in the school building, the need to apply skills and concepts in reading, writing and math is needed more than ever. Our students need to engage and interact with their peers while problem solving literacy and math skill activities during centers. My students are learning a new math curriculum which is embedded with rigorous vocabulary and concepts that will catapult them into second grade. Our current math unit involves addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart and comparing. Students will need counters, dry erase boards, markers and math activities to compose and decompose numbers. My students are also learning phonics and phonological skills, but they need phonics activities such as sight word bingo, digraph, blending, vowel and letter/sound recognition to become great readers.
