This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I need another one! I lost my mine! Where do I put this? These three phrases I hear all day everyday.

My students live in an impoverished area of Los Angeles.

At home they don't have many possessions. This explains why so many of them lack organizational skills. In the classroom they are constantly shuffling through paperwork looking for what they need to commence the lesson.

My Project

The items I am asking for will help them keep all of their items organized. All their writing can be stored in the cart rather than be crammed in their desk. The extra papers or worksheets, just in case they misplace theirs or they are absent, can be stored in extra folders. This will enable them to become more independent and I won't have to stop my lesson or conference with small groups to get them what they need.

Organization is a skill people in general lack.

Teaching the students this skill early in life will save them many headaches in the future. Also, teaching them independence will allow them to earn self-confidence since they will be able to "do it all by [them]selves."
