My Students

In my classroom, I have 12 students with intellectual disabilities in grades third through fifth. These students are busy, happy people who enjoy their entire day at school. They love to learn like most other students and they enjoy their peers and all the activities school has to offer. Our classroom runs non-stop and sometimes putting on the brakes to settle down and absorb academic instruction is difficult.

Students with intellectual disabilities can be distracted easily during academic time, whether that time is during individual, small or large group instruction or whether the activity is math, reading or written based.

Headphones create a more secure environment for students with a disability. This security leads to a calmer, more focused child. For students with Down Syndrome, Autism or intellectual disabilities, outside stimuli becomes less distracting with headphones on, and thus, the child is able to focus on the task at hand, especially during independent work. Headphones will help all of our students be more successful in the educational setting, during academic instruction. These headphones will be used in the classroom during structured and monitored academic time.

My Project

Having learning and attention issues can really hinder how much you absorb during the school day and students with sensory processing issues often struggle with self-regulation. The students in our classroom ALL struggle with self-regulation and processing issues and need additional help to learn in school.

BestGot Headphones will help students focus on the task that lay before them, thereby leading to a more successful school day.

These headphones will be used during reading, writing and math-based lessons and during small and large group instruction time. Students will be constantly monitored in ensure that the headphones are being used properly and effectively.
