Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Last year, my students conducted a large research project on historical figures. They read a number of research books and wrote an essay about their historical figure. They also conducted an "interview" with their historical figure as part of a presentation for their peers. They STILL can't stop talking about it. This year, we are going to do a big research project on animals. The biggest difficulty we faced in doing our research last year was getting enough books on a variety of levels to meet my students' needs. This year, I have been trying to expand my collection of books to help us with our research. Working in a low-income school, though, my students don't have access to the vast library that we need for this research. Oftentimes, my students can't make it to the library at all and my small classroom library is the only access to books that they have. I want to get a collection of books on different animals so my students have a large variety of topics for their research project. I want them to have the chance to learn about animals they may not have had the opportunity to research before. My students love reading new books that come into the classroom and I know they will read these books voraciously. Your amazing help will provide my class with hours of learning for their research project. My kids will appreciate the opportunity to expand their research project and learn more about animals from around the world. Your generous support will help my class further their learning!
