My Students

I am a 3rd-grade teacher in South Bronx, NY. For the 2 years, our country and school community have been hit and hurt by many unexpected changes that forever altered our lifestyles, routines, and understanding of normalcy. Despite our best intentions and efforts to support our students, we continue to face challenges resulting from deepened learning gaps, limited socialization, and budget.

I love my students for their positivity toward academic obstacles and taxing home circumstances; 95% of my students receive free lunch, and nearly 1/3 of them live in the NYC shelter system.

I'm here to ask for your support to provide warmth, care, hunger while tacking the increased demand of remote learning.

My Project

In this project, we have 6 balance balls that provide a fun way to encourage students to build a healthy posture, improve balance, and get the 'wiggles out'. The constant ball movements increase blood flow to the brain, leading to better focus. Next, we have a projector that reflects light which is super important because TVs and smart broad emit light. Reflected light is less straining, more comfortable. Projectors produce bigger images. Then, we have reusable water bottles. Reusable water bottle is better for the environment in countless ways. They use less oil, release less carbon dioxide, they won't pack landfills, and they're good for water in general. They also keep the students hydrated throughout the day. After that, we included keybroad and mouse for our digital center when we utilize laptop. In addition, we have cleaning supplies to help keep the classroom clean and tidy at all time. In the end, we have snacks and toothbrush for students to promote dental care.
