My Students

We all have that book that we read over and over again as a child. For me it was the Bernstein Bears. For my students it is a variety of popular titles including Eric Linton's Pete the Cat series, books from Scieszka's Trucktown series, and the "modern Dr. Seuss": Mo Willems.

My students are eager learners who cannot get enough reading in their day.

They love coming to school, as it is a safe environment to learn and play. My students are so eager to come to the library each week, that every morning I get a question on the playground: "Is it our day for library?" or "I can't wait for Friday! Know why? It's LIBRARY day!" These are the kids you are helping!

My Project

I love hearing about the books kids are reading and excited about. My young students don't hold back in telling me about their favorite book, enlisting the reasons why. "That Pete the Cat is so funny!" or "I can't wait to see what adventure Elephant and Piggie go on next!" These kids are excited about reading, but the unfortunate fact is many of their favorites have become worn out. My library budget does not permit enough to keep up with an updated collection while replacing some of our most well-loved, well-worn books.

You can provide those supplemental dollars so these books can continue to stay in my students' hands, so they can continue being excited about reading!
