Welcoming Wellness!

Help me give my students and their young community members plenty of opportunities to develop their gross-motor skills!

My Project

Our students will host a Field Day event, which will bring excitement and fun, as our school community of students, teachers, and families, gather for a day of active play! Each of our classrooms will host an event/game, making sure to encourage whole-body movement and participation throughout the day. Events they hope to include are friendly soccer competitions, scooter races, hockey challenges, and more. Students at our learning center want to take the lead in getting their community involved in maintaining their physical health and wellness. Our Field will provide just that!

Not only does Field Day include our school community, but current students will have opportunities to mentor new, potential preschoolers that will be attending our learning center in the Fall!

This gives our current students a chance to showcase all of the wonderful things our learning center has to offer. In making these connections with their communities, students are spreading awareness with the hope that the small steps they are taking to promote wellness, will later turn into them making a larger impact. We open our Field Day event to the surrounding and neighboring communities, promoting active play amongst children and their family members.

Hosting this Field Day will strengthen student friendships, create new friendships within the community, and promote physical wellness. The materials we are requesting will not only be used for this year's event, but will continue to provide learning and development for future student-led field days and wellness events. Having the students take the lead on this event allows them to show their leadership and service not only to their school, but also to the community in which they live, learn and grow in.
