This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a reading interventionist in Dallas, Texas, I work with over 40 bilingual students in 3rd–5th grade who are reading below grade level. My goal is to help them build foundational skills and confidence to become successful, independent readers.

I’ve added classroom décor and Science of Reading-aligned materials to this DonorsChoose project because both are essential for creating an environment where struggling readers feel supported, motivated, and engaged.

The classroom décor will help transform our small-group intervention space into a warm, welcoming, and literacy-rich environment. Meanwhile, the Science of Reading materials—including phonics tools, decodable texts, and structured literacy resources—will provide the evidence-based instruction my students need to close reading gaps.

Our school serves a diverse population, with the majority of students coming from low-income backgrounds and multilingual homes. Your donation will directly impact these resilient learners by giving them the tools and atmosphere they need to thrive.
