My Project
I am a resource teacher at an elementary school. I support students who are neuro-divergent (students on the spectrum, students with specific learning disabilities, students with attentional difficulties, and students with emotional needs), by pushing into the general education classroom or by pulling students out from their regular classrooms to work in the resource room also know as the Learning Lab!
Resource Students benefit from small group instruction in an environment that allows for movement breaks, flexible seating and sensory gadgets; by donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
With this grant, I plan to create a welcoming class environment through;
- Flexible seating, such as the Gaiam Kids Balance Ball Chair - Classic Children's Stability Ball Chair, Alternative School Classroom Flexible Desk Seating for Active Students, Orange/Blue, the Chair Ball - Extra Balance Ball for Kids Balance Ball Chair, Green, 38cm and American Plastic Toys Kids Scoop Rockers (Pack of 4), Green, Lounging Floor.
-Fidgets and sensory tools such as Chew Necklace by GNAWRISHING, Special Supplies Therapy Putty for Kids, and KLT Sensory Stress Balls Set 12 Pack.
In addition, the general education teachers borrow fidgets and sensory tools from the resource room to support students in their classroom that are not eligible for special education services.
