My Students

My students are discovering and enjoying nursery rhymes in Pre-K. We need to build a classroom library to match our love of these treasured classics.

I teach a group of forty, four year old students, who are full of energy and excitement and eager to learn.

This is their first year in school. The teachers, parents and students alike are so excited to be at a brand new school this year. However, due to this we don't have all the "oldies but goodies", like a good supply of classroom books!

My Project

We are using nursery rhymes to introduce everything from letters, to rhyme and even basing our center activities around the rhyme of the week. We all know that children need to be read to on a daily basis and with these books the stories will be related to the topics we are discussing in class. We will discuss concepts of print, such as the cover of the book, how print goes left to right and top to bottom and the children will be allowed to read the books themselves.

It is such an amazing feeling to see a four year old with a familiar book in their hand,saying "teacher I can read it", when they think they are reading it.

When they think they can, they can! I am laying the ground work this year in Pre-K for forty precious children and these books will help so much. They will also be around to help many kids for years to come. Please help make this nursery rhyme library a dream come true.
