Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My classroom is dedicated to welcoming new 3-5-year-old special education students to school. My students need help with how to play, how to follow directions, and how to do school, as well as snacks to focus on learning and not being hungry. The first step is to make sure that my students are comfortable with basic life skills. Providing students with the resources to help them with basic hygiene is a good place to start. The next step is to provide them with an environment where they can develop skills that will help them interact with others and engage with the world around them. These include learning resources such as a class calendar and writing activities. Having items for my students to be self-sufficient, such as cleaning their area when they are finished eating, is a good trait to have when they are with their families at restaurants and/or relatives’ houses. I am proud of the progress we have made on these items. I’d like to make these and other aspects of school easier for my students. Your donations help me create a classroom where they feel confident and where they feel safe, like they belong.
