My Students

There was not any hands-on and exploration learning taking place when I was in elementary school. The teacher would stand at the board, teach the lesson, assign independent practice, grade assignments, and move on to the next lesson. I want so much more for my students and their academic success.

This is my second year teaching second grade.

I have learned that my students enjoy learning about many topics as long as they are engaging and promote social interaction. I teach at a very high poverty school where majority of the students are receiving free or reduced lunch. My students look forward to the exciting times they have at school. For many of my students, school is their safe haven and comfort place. I want to as a teacher to provide all my students with a learning rich-filled environment that motivates them to become successful scientists, doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. I understand that all students may not make the choice to become one from the list, but I want them to have a solid background knowledge so whatever they decide they will succeed. School is the only learning environment that many of my students have and they are striving everyday to achieve their goals in life. I think as a caring teacher that it is my job to find resources to accommodate them.

My Project

These resources will allow all students the opportunity to take part in the learning process. We know as educators that students learn better from their peers through engaging activities and social interaction. These materials will be use on a daily basis to build and expand on background knowledge, as well as, introduce to students who are deficient in these subject areas. I will use the learning centers in whole group, and small group during center rotations. Students will learn and meet all the required standards and objectives for their grade level.

Please consider my students when you are looking to fund a project.

My students are all special individuals in their very own unique way, but one thing I can say is that they all need a quality education and time to spend with each other other than listening to the teacher instruct. Our school is high poverty and parents do not provide financial support. Therefore, I have to spend a lot of my personal money to supply materials for my classroom. I will along with my students will appreciate you.
