My students need a safari themed reading nook to inspire them to develop a love of reading in our jungle themed classroom.

My Students

The students walk into the classroom each morning with a bright smile, eagerness to learn, and anticipation as to what the day holds for them. At our school we strive to treat each other with respect, love, and compassion. Unfortunately, these students are in a high poverty, low income environment, where all of our students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. I teach 2nd grade in an underfunded, underprivileged rural setting.

My goal is for children to fall in love with books and reading.

I want my students to develop a lifelong love of books and literature.

My Project

I am wanting to create a cozy space for my students to snuggle up with a good book and read. Currently, we do not have an inviting space in our classroom for enjoying books. Not very appealing to a beginning reader. For now, we enjoy books sitting at our seats. The supplies from this project will enhance our inspired jungle themed reading area.

My students are becoming more confident in their reading and I want to make a comfortable, fun area for them to read in.

The requested teepee, chairs, rug, pillows, and canopy will create enthusiasm and inspiration for the children to want to read more in our tropical themed classroom. I am excited for this project and I can't wait to get these supplies to help my students to be even more interested in taking the time to read. Thank you in advance!
