Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to teach a diverse group of first grade students that are eager to learn. These materials will be used to provide a comfortable space for students to read and a calm spot to take a mini "staycation" in Camp Welch's library. Camping chairs and pillow logs will be used as flexible seating to create a true camping ambiance. Book Buddies (stuffed animals) will be used for students to read to as well as a buddy that can be used as a calm down strategy. As a first year teacher, I want to provide my students with hands on learning experiencing by providing them with individual manipulative kits inside photo storage boxes, easy access to diverse books (examples: Name Jar, The Proudest Blue and Fry Bread) and a welcoming organized classroom using a mailbox storage system to keep student work organized to take home.

Students will see the love that I have for reading and the space that it takes up in my classroom.

I am confident that this will provide a welcoming environment to ensure all students are celebrated and successful learners. Thank you for taking the time to read my project. Any support that you give to my first graders is appreciated!
