Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located on the lower socioeconomic side of town. About 99% of our students are low-income and we do have students that are labeled as homeless. Even though these students face these hardships daily, they are also very hardworking children with many dreams and goals. They see great value in education and give no excuses when asked to give it their all and work toward their goals.
My students have a lot of potential to be the great leaders of tomorrow.
Some of them may not even have their parents' support because of harsh situations, but they do come in every day to school ready to learn and be a better person every day. They come into the classroom and try very hard to leave their issues behind and start off the day in a positive way, ready to learn and to get closer to reaching their dreams!
My Project
Teaching our future generations is quite a task during these times that technology is now part of our daily lives. As a teacher I feel that I have to be updated in many ways in order to expose my students to all that is out there and help them build up on their learning in diverse ways. Having this new type of technology in my classroom will help me provide them with the appropriate, up-to-date instruction to get them ready for what is to come in their future. They will learn new things and have a new way of exploring their abilities and enhance their learning.
Our school district is big on developing STEM skills with our second graders, so the OSMO coding program will allow my students to reinforce their STEM skills in the area and put them into practice with modern technology.
The math OSMO game will help my students with their addition and subtraction skills, which are basic in their everyday lives. These technologically advanced programs will provide my students with a new way of learning making it fun and attractive for them at the same time. Student engagement is a must and I know my students will love these especially because of their love for technology. The STEM laser game will also help improve their critical thinking skills in science. They will apply logic and previous knowledge through a fun way while learning about science.
