This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Please help me welcome my newcomers to my class and to this country by providing much needed snacks.
We are working on describing people, places and things.
What better way to get them to learn about describing things with actual snacks at hand? They can describe just how delicious snacks are when students are low on energy in class.
They are also learning about actions that are taking place at a specific time. I have noticed that students go crazy over snacks! When their motivation is low, I just show them the snacks they can choose from once their work is turned in and it increases their motivation instantaneously!
My students are special in the sense that they endure many hardships to come to the states and often times leave many people behind that they love. They feel guilty for being here and their loved ones do not have the same opportunities as they do yet they come to school with smiles on their faces most of the time.
Nothing comes easy to them, not the English language or the culture they adapt to. I am simply trying to encourage them to keep trying every day to be their best for themselves and for those they have left behind.
