This school year, I have 21 Pre-Kindergarten students. They are located in a public school district within a low-income, urban area. Most of them enter the classroom with no organizational skills and little ability to sit in a durable, safe learning position. In my classroom environment, my chairs are falling apart, and this affects the learning environment. I adore my students so much that I want to provide them with a rich foundational learning experience. This learning experience will be successful with sturdy, comfortable and secure seating tools.
Chairs are successful, important tools that will enhance the learning styles in a pre-kindergarten classroom.
Chairs develop social interaction. My students will learn to cooperate during activities and group discussions. Chairs develop logical thinking. My students are able to concentrate during problem solving, storytelling, counting, building, listening and speaking activities. Chairs develop creative play. My students will have more fun during chair games and cooperative play. Chairs will give comfort and great posture when my students have writing assignments. Chairs will help rest the brain during quiet activities. My students will be able to sit sturdy and reflect on the daily activities. Chairs will enhance classroom management skills. My students will become more independent of their environment and demonstrate how to utilize their own space. Chairs are physical learning tools to help my students develop better posture and proper table manners. Chairs will enhance the STEM experiments. My students will be able to sit comfortably, observe and think while learning.
My students will have a well-rounded classroom foundation with new, durable and safe chairs. The chairs will help them pay attention, exercise their breathing techniques, connect to their inner self, remove distractions, keep them calm, keep a positive flow in the classroom, keep peace and the ability to focus on the learning.
