Help me give my students a safe and comfortable learning environment using a Library Mobile Storage Cart that will display social emotional books for my students to read and Wobble Chairs that will help students who made be experiencing anxiety or have ADHD.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are curious, brave, and inspire me every day. When school closed in March, many of my students experienced fear, sadness, hopelessness and anxiety. I had to provide counseling remotely to address my students' social, emotional and mental needs. Together, my students and I engaged in daily phone calls and video conferencing. My favorite thing is to see my students overcome barriers that impede their learning.
Coming back to school this year is going to be full of many challenges for my students.
Many have expressed their fears. My goal is to help my students with their needs and provide them with a safe and friendly learning environment. My students are in need of mental, social and emotional activities that will help my students become more self-aware,develop positive relationships, show empathy towards others, mange emotions, use self-control, resolve conflicts and make positive decisions.
My Project
Kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders are full of energy. Sitting still is difficult especially for students trying to cope with the pandemic. I am trying to provide flexible seating to help my students focus on the strategies begin taught. These seats wobble out all the energy and stress while still being stable and safe.
The library cart will help keep our social-emotional books organize and free up space.
Students will have more room to sit on their wobbly chairs and read. Keeping safe distances from other students. Thank you!
